Juan Carlos Vega
Juan Carlos Vega is a photographic artist and Creative Director, born in the Principality of Asturias, Spain.
His work is articulated around the image as a tool for narrative construction, where photography moves beyond being merely a medium to become a language capable of generating meaning.
Throughout his career, he has worked across architecture, fashion, dance, and advertising, integrating photography, art direction, and audiovisual production in projects that require a strong vision and precise execution. His personal practice focuses on the relationship between body and space. Through ballet and its staging, he explores identity and presence, while also incorporating the exploration of materials as a creative element and a vehicle for accessibility.
This vision has led him to develop institutional exhibitions at both national and international levels, particularly in Spain, Brazil, and Italy, building a distinctive code of connection between territories and cultures. History constitutes a fundamental foundation in his contemporary practice, linked to contexts such as Niemeyer, Balenciaga, and Gaudí.
In parallel, he collaborates with organizations, brands, and creative teams in the development of visual projects. He has portrayed prominent figures in the international cultural sphere, consolidating a photographic practice with strong symbolic value and an international presence in the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai.
He is an academic member of the Bances y Valdés Institute of Historical Studies (Principality of Asturias) and has been awarded distinctions such as Knight of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Rome (2023) and Knight of the Guelphic Order of Florence (2022).
His premise is to give the value that corresponds to photography, and to ballet as arts. And through these, his contribution to human and society.
