Brasilía, the dream of Juscelino Kubitschek, Praga, mayo 2026

The Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, and the Czech Technical University in Prague have the honour to present the photographic exhibition Brasília: The Dream of Juscelino Kubitschek, featuring works by photographer and artist Juan Carlos Vega, with curatorial work by Marco Maio.

The exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the death of Juscelino Kubitschek — of Czech heritage — whose vision made possible the project that transformed Brazilian territory and gave shape to a new capital

Through his images, Vega explores the axes, perspectives and formal decisions that define Brasília’s identity, revealing its character as a city conceived for the future. The photographs connect architecture with lived experience: lines and voids construct the setting, while the presence of the body — moving through and relating to space — introduces an emotional dimension to the reading of the work. Beyond a purely documentary record, the artistic proposal offers a new visual language in which the city is perceived as a living rhythm.

The exhibition is presented within the framework of Ibero-American Week in Prague, reaffirming cultural dialogue through art and memory. As a keepsake of the visit, it invites the public to reflect on the lasting imprint of a city born from a collective dream — an idea made tangible in stone, light, and space, and one that continues to inspire new ways of thinking about architecture, identity, and hope.
